Explore Manali

Why Manali is the Ultimate Destination

Snow-Capped Peaks and Valleys: The region is nestled in the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges of the Himalayas. You’ll be surrounded by towering, snow-covered mountains, dense forests of deodar and pine, and picturesque river valleys.

The Beas River: The powerful Beas River flows through the Kullu Valley, adding a dramatic and beautiful element to the landscape. It’s a fantastic spot for photography and peaceful reflection.

Trekking: It’s the starting point for some of the most famous treks, including the Bhrigu Lake Trek, Rohtang Pass, Hampta Pass, Sar Pass, and Chanderkhani Pass.

Skiing and Snow Activities: In winter (predominantly December to March), places like Solang Valley offer perfect slopes for skiing, ice-skating, and other snow-based sports. Solang Valley, often called “Snow Point,” provides magnificent views and activities year-round.

Paragliding: Experience the thrill of flying above the valleys and mountains, especially at Solang Valley and near Rohtang Pass.

River Rafting: The Beas River is famous for white-water river rafting.

Rohtang Pass: A famous high mountain pass (about 51 km from Manali) that offers breathtaking views and is a gateway to the Lahaul and Spiti district.

Atal Tunnel: The world’s longest highway single-tube tunnel at an altitude above 10,000 feet, which provides all-weather access to Lahaul and Spiti, and is an attraction in itself.

Solang Valley: Known for its panoramic views and a hub for adventure sports like zorbing and paragliding in summer, and skiing in winter.

  • Ancient Temples and History:

    • Hadimba Temple: A unique four-tiered wooden pagoda-style shrine dedicated to Hadimbi Devi.

    • Manu Temple: An ancient shrine in Old Manali dedicated to Maharishi Manu, who, in Hindu cosmology, is believed to have recreated human life after a great flood.

    • Naggar Castle: An old fort turned into a heritage hotel, offering charming views and a glimpse into the region’s history, often housing an art gallery dedicated to Russian artist Nicholas Roerich.

    • Vashisht Temple: Famous for its sulphurous hot springs believed to have medicinal properties.

  • Nearby Destinations: The valley is a base for exploring popular spots like Kasol and Manikaran Gurudwara (famous for its hot springs).
